This research work presents the analytical modeling and validation of linear synchronous permanent magnet (PM) generator for marine wave energy conversion. The linear generator is proposed with novel geometry of triangular magnet array configuration which has highest electromagnetic performance and improved characteristics as compared to conventional linear generators. An analytical model is developed for proposed linear generator in order to predict electromagnetic performance such as; open-circuit magnetic flux density, induced voltage and magnetic flux linkage. In order to validate the analytical model, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is carried out and is compared with analytical predicted results by MATLAB. The obtained results of both FEA and MATLAB provide a well agreement with each other and eventually validate the developed analytical model. © 2018 IEEE.
