Abstract

Copper based tetraphenylporphyrin (CuTPP) was formed successfully inside the pores of Zeolite A for the photocatalytic degradation of Orange II using UV light irradiation source. The TGA and FTIR confirmed the formation of metalloporphyrin (MeP) structures inside the pores of zeolite A, and the UV-Vis study revealed that the band gap decreased and therefore increased the solar light utilization capability of the zeolite encapsulated MeP. Reaction kinetics for the degradation of Orange II showed first order behaviour till first 80 minutes then favoured a second order kinetics after wards with 35 dye removal at the neutral pH and room temperature conditions. © 2016 The Authors.
