Abstract

This paper presents new gas hydrate equilibrium data's for C2H6 (structure I) and CH4 + C3H8 (structure II) with and without the presence of sodium chloride. Macroscopic observation of gas hydrate dissociation under the presence of kinetic hydrate inhibitor (KHI) is also presented and compared with cells that have no inhibitor. All the experiments are conducted with a synthetic natural gas utilizing a newly fabricated isochoric rocking cell apparatus. Results of experimental gas hydrate equilibria data agrees with thermodynamic software (CSMGem). Macroscopic observation work shows that the presence of KHI slows down gas hydrate dissociation compared to cells with no inhibitor. © 2016 The Authors.
