Abstract

Herein, an ECG compression scheme is proposed, which is based on the Wavelet Footprint representation of ECG signals 5 in combination with some signal preprocessing, linear quantization and Huffman Coding. Experiments conducted on selected records of the MIT-BIH Arrythmia Database indicate that compression ratios of about 10X are achievable with average PRD of 0.8450%. © 2004IEEE.
