Third Generation (3G) mobile developments are likely to bring about many life-style changes around the world The Healthcare industry too stands to benefit from these developments. In this paper, we try and develop a 3G compatible Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) based system that can retrieve medical data from a secure server, and in turn, assist a medical practitioner to monitor and access his patients' records from his hospital and even monitor, be they, as may be, text records or medical images or ECG signals while he is on the move. Needless to say, the patients too can access their records from the luxury of their homes. © 2004 IEEE.
