Abstract

Heterogeneous Wireless Access Networks (HWAN), referred to as 4G network or Next Generation Wireless Network (NGWN) is, in addition of providing higher radio bandwidth than current 3G networks, to integrate the different wireless access technologies (e.g. GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, WiMAX, WLAN, etc) into a common IP-based network in order to offer mobile users continuous and unified service in a transparent way. One of the major issues is to support End-to-End QoS across all these technologies at all stages from set-up to handoff. We present, in this paper, a method of mapping QoS of UMTS and WiMAX over a loose coupling environment across IP based network. © 2012 IEEE.
