Utilizing date palm waste as an energy source is a potential low-carbon energy source, especially in areas such as the Middle East. This study investigates date palm waste air gasification performed in a downdraft gasifier. The study aims to analyze the impact of various parameter ranges such as temperature of 600-900 C, air flow rate of 1.0 to 4.0 l/min, and particle size of <2-6> mm on the gas ratios of producer gas. H2/CO ratio is an important parameter which is an increase from 0.53 to 0.71 with a rise in temperature from 600 to 900 C. A similar profiling of other gas ratios was noticed with the temperature increase. The H2/CO ratio and H2/CO2 are found maximum at the air flow rate of 2.5 l/min and 3.0 l/min.H2/CH4 showed a very steady trend with an increase of air flow rate up to 2.5 l/min, but a sharp hike was noticed by increasing the air flow rate of 2.5 to 4.0 l/min. Larger particle size shows a lower value of H2/CO, H2/CH4, and H2/CO2 due to the lower heat and mass transfer diffusion compared to smaller particle size. © 2023, Association of American Publishers.
