Abstract

IoT blockchain relies on a peer-to-peer (P2P) and infrastructure-less network. Each node participates in routing data packet to other nodes, so that the decision of which nodes forwarding data packet is made dynamically based on the routing protocol. Hence, a high performing routing protocol is essential for routing efficiency. A well-selected network routing has the potential to enhance the performance of a P2P network. This paper presents an empirical comparative study on the network routing performance in the perspective of IoT blockchain. Network routing helps in creating a crash tolerance network that is capable of rebuilding and resuming connectivity rapidly in the event of any leader node glitch. Based on the NetSim simulation evaluation conducted with simulation parameters configured for the IoT blockchain environment, DSR protocol appeared as the highest performer compared to AODV, OLSR and ZRP. © 2022 IEEE.
