Performance of TiO2 Nanoparticles Synthesized at pH 2 as Photoelectrode in Dye Solar Cell Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Nanocrystalline TiO2 was prepared using sol-gel hydrothermal method to be used as photoelectrode material for dye solar cells (DSC) employing continuous stirring of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and deionized water at 70 oC for 6 hours. TiO2 nanopowder was obtained after calcinations in air at 400 oC. The samples were characterized using FESEM, TEM, XRD, BET and UV-Vis optical absorption. This paper discusses the effect of surfactant on the physicochemical properties and the efficiency of the synthesized TiO2 photoelectrode to convert light into electricity.
