A 3D Finite Element (FE) electromagnetic modeling approach is carried out to determine the electromagnetic coupling and inductances of the system according to the change of distance. The simulation are carried out using ANSYS Maxwell software. The simulation result is validated by experimental results using a prototype that has been build. The characteristics of the design planar PCB windings are confirmed with measurement and calculation of the prototype. The experimental results demonstrate the air gap will influence the efficiency of the power transfer by affecting the value of mutual inductance and coupling coefficient. © 2016 IEEE. date: 2017 publisher: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85011968153&doi=10.1109%2fICIAS.2016.7824128&partnerID=40&md5=81917e60406fb82c0ec973486c7f8685 id_number: 10.1109/ICIAS.2016.7824128 full_text_status: none publication: International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems, ICIAS 2016 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781509008452 citation: Zainol, M.Z. and Romlie, M.F. and Jalil, M.R.A. and Yahaya, N.Z. and Zainol, I. and Ghani, M.F. and Jasri, M.A.H.M.
