A DC-DC boost converter was modelled using averaged state space method for controller design and dynamic analysis. PID controllers were designed using three different PID tuning methods; namely the Ziegler-Nichols frequency domain method, damped oscillation method and Good Gain method. The Matlab/Simulink was used to model and analyse the system transient response in terms of rise time, settling time, percentage overshoot and steady state error to step change input for their suitability in power supply design application. Among the three methods, the damped oscillation method demonstrated moderate fast rise and settling time with the advantage of lower overshoot to set point change. © 2016 IEEE. date: 2017 publisher: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85011985638&doi=10.1109%2fICIAS.2016.7824044&partnerID=40&md5=b510e5bc05795902e9d81cdbf7a3bb26 id_number: 10.1109/ICIAS.2016.7824044 full_text_status: none publication: International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems, ICIAS 2016 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781509008452 citation: Ibrahim, O. and Yahaya, N.Z. and Saad, N.
