The Resqku mobile application serves as a notification tool to produce high frequency noise to distract crime suspects by using a single emergency alert button. The research work is motivated by the desire to curb the alarming increase of street crimes in densely populated district. A pilot study was conducted in places of high incidents of street crimes by interviewing civilians and law enforcement body such as the police. Our research contribution comes from the integration of high frequency noise in the proposed Resqku application. Preliminary results showed positive response towards personal-safety features built-into the Resqku mobile application. It is a valuable tool to distract suspects in crime scenes for all smartphone users. © 2017 American Scientific Publishers.
