We have used the data of FPI, GDP and FDI from 2001 to 2013 to determine the impact of FPI on the economy. The results of Granger causality and MWald test reveal interesting facts about the ASEAN5. The empirical analyses suggest that a significant relationship exists between FPI and the economic growth of ASEAN5, except for Singapore. The results also indicate a positive impact of FDI on economic development, in particular, for Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. © Fayyaz Ahmad, Muhammad Umar Draz, Su-chang Yang, 2016. date: 2016 publisher: National Academy of Management official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84969601886&partnerID=40&md5=adece07a9d2d45d61257a7fed3e69050 full_text_status: none publication: Actual Problems of Economics volume: 179 number: 5 pagerange: 57-69 refereed: TRUE issn: 19936788 citation: Ahmad, F. and Draz, M.U. and Yang, S.-C.
