As employment increases, the number of fatalities also increases. Objective of this study is to improve the percentages of accidents in building construction. This study also will lead the reader to know how far is the implementation of the construction safety management system has been implemented. The study started with gathering information through literature review whereby factors that might affect the standards of construction industry in general were identified. A study questionnaire was then prepared based on list of factors obtained from literature review and sent out to respondents. After analysing the results of the questionnaire survey, it was found that improvements in many aspects need to be considered and monitored frequently in order to ensure the effectiveness of preventive safety management system was implemented. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. %K Construction industry; Environmental engineering; Offshore oil well production; Surveys; Technology transfer, Construction safety management systems; In-buildings; Literature reviews; Questionnaire surveys; Safety management; Safety management systems, Safety engineering
