abstract: Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML)-enabled websites allow users to access the contents of the website via phone call. The use of VoiceXML technology that connects the callers to the application via Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) has made the phone-based application accessible by any types of telephone, anywhere around the globe. We demonstrate the applicability of this technology via a job seekers' website. The website performs in a similar manner as those websites with SMS alert feature which provides alternative to receive and update the website's content other than using Internet connection. Alternatively, VXML-based websites provide more than just receiving job alerts and applying for a job via SMS. The callers will now have a new experience just like "talking" to the content of the website. This will be a new environment for job seeking application that allows command and output presented in speech format. The success of the research will contribute to the first VoiceXML-based application in Malaysia. © 2009 WASET.ORG.
