However, there is still lack of confidence on their application in high seismicity zones. The necessity of a comprehensive design method which includes both nonlinear stiffness and self-centring capability of post-tensioned segmental columns is unavoidable. In this study, in order to increase energy dissipation capacity of precast segmental columns continuous mild steel bars are introduced in critical areas. Yielding displacement and the maximum applicable ductility level of posttensioned segmental columns with various aspect ratio are evaluated. A displacement-based design procedure which allows increasing energy dissipation capacity and keeps the residual drift less than 1.0 is proposed. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. date: 2016 publisher: CRC Press/Balkema official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85009775319&doi=10.1201%2fb21942-86&partnerID=40&md5=9f12508863845d1daa8ab3868a95a4e3 id_number: 10.1201/b21942-86 full_text_status: none publication: Engineering Challenges for Sustainable Future - Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Civil, offshore and Environmental Engineering, ICCOEE 2016 pagerange: 423-426 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781138029781 citation: Nikbakht, E. and Mahzabin, M.S.
