This paper presents the used of FaultTree Method in qualitative modelling the bridge defect in terms of failure causes and mechanism that can be directly correlated with the proposed bridge management system namely as Bridge Integrity Management System (BIMs) bridge. The minimal cut sets of Fault tree was determined using Boolean algebra formulas which contains 20 double components of cut sets. The results of this qualitative analysis establish the probability expression of bridge defect which may provide guidance for future safety management for bridge failure. Further quantitative analysis will determine the ranges probabilities of bridge defect that will be used for the development of risk matrix. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. date: 2016 publisher: CRC Press/Balkema official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85009798888&partnerID=40&md5=b204ccaa9764b591356fb18cd358d71f full_text_status: none publication: Engineering Challenges for Sustainable Future - Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Civil, offshore and Environmental Engineering, ICCOEE 2016 pagerange: 457-462 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781138029781 citation: Wan Salim, W.S. and Liew, M.S. and Shafie, A.
