The reactor has 5 compartments of various sizes (C1C5). Pistia Stratiotes were planted in all the compartments of the reactor. Influent wastewater was applied to compartment 1 (C1) at a hydraulic loading rate (HLR) of 10.2m3/m.d1 and hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 6 hours. The average organic loading rate (OLR) and ammonia loading rate (ALR) were in the range 68 g COD/m3.m.d1 and 0.150.25 gNH+ 4 -N/m3.m.d1 respectively. Reactor temperature was daily monitored alongside sample collection at 9 AM, 12 PM, 3 PM and 7 PM respectively for 7 days. On day 4, (3 PM at 35.9C), NH+ 4 -N removal reached 94. COD removal reached 5055 between 9 AM and 12 PM but fluctuated between 514 at 7 PM from day 1 to day 7. This study demonstrates that temperature can influence the performance of Pistia Stratiotes. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. date: 2016 publisher: CRC Press/Balkema official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85009810745&doi=10.1201%2fb21942-41&partnerID=40&md5=23d8c040b54c05813c4dc99ce54c7ab5 id_number: 10.1201/b21942-41 full_text_status: none publication: Engineering Challenges for Sustainable Future - Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Civil, offshore and Environmental Engineering, ICCOEE 2016 pagerange: 207-210 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781138029781 citation: Kutty, S.R.M. and Ezechi, E.H. and Nagum, A.T.A.
