The conventional carcass made from a flexible metallic layer which has the potential of corrosion and weight issue as the main problems during installation operation. The ball-and-socket concept is made from glass epoxy material and with an interlocking design that made from several segment to form a single pipe length. The use of composite has its benefit in term of strength, stiffness and weight as compared with conventional carcass pipe. The results showed that ball-and-socket design has solved the second issue of having heavy weight while still maintaining adequate structural strength to hold the hydrostatic pressure. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. publisher: CRC Press/Balkema date: 2016 type: Conference or Workshop Item type: PeerReviewed identifier: Billah, A.F. and Mustaffa, Z. and Albarody, B.T.M.B.
