Furthermore, rapid development in the world was caused increasing of carbon dioxide emission that affected the world environment. Carbon emission analysis has been produced in this study specifically for two types of double story houses. This study was focused on structural elements of the building that were beam, column and slab. An environmental factor was the main parameter that was calculated to determine the amount of carbon emission. This paper showed a comparison of carbon emission by three different types of alternative concrete materials that were normal concrete, fly ash concrete and blast furnace slag concrete. The comparison was made to determine lowest carbon emission for the proposed double story houses. This study will develop new criteria in designing sustainable reinforced concrete structure in term of low carbon emission design. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. date: 2016 publisher: CRC Press/Balkema official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85009829147&doi=10.1201%2fb21942-87&partnerID=40&md5=c95273a6baa439eac93070d260d24783 id_number: 10.1201/b21942-87 full_text_status: none publication: Engineering Challenges for Sustainable Future - Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Civil, offshore and Environmental Engineering, ICCOEE 2016 pagerange: 427-432 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781138029781 citation: Hamid, M.S.A. and Shafiq, N. and Zawawi, N.A. and Nuruddin, M.F. and Khamidi, M.F. and Shaharmi, M.S.H.M.
