Excess molar volumes (VmE) were calculated from density values and correlated with Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. Partial molar volumes at infinite dilutions (Vm,i) of the ILs and methanol were determined from the Redlich-Kister coefficients. For all the studied systems, the VmE is negative over the entire composition range. The VmE and Vm,i are interpreted in terms of intermolecular interactions in the binary mixture. Density functional theory has been used to investigate the interactions between methanol and the studied ILs. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. date: 2015 publisher: Elsevier official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84939244660&doi=10.1016%2fj.molliq.2015.07.073&partnerID=40&md5=0dc1a9040ff55b885cf5ce6c0c9fcdc4 id_number: 10.1016/j.molliq.2015.07.073 full_text_status: none publication: Journal of Molecular Liquids volume: 211 pagerange: 734-741 refereed: TRUE issn: 01677322 citation: Gonfa, G. and Bustam, M.A. and Muhammad, N. and Ullah, S.
