"There have been made many improvements in the recipe of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) during last few years, the earlier efforts mainly focused on the improvement of rheology, mechanical properties and cost effectiveness. During this decade various types of fibers impregnation have been investigated on the enhancement of ductility and tensile strength. The principal aim of this research study was to investigate the role of different types of fiber impregnation such as steel, Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and chopped basalt fibers on the fresh and harden properties of SCC containing fly ash and/or silica fume as partial replacement of cement. In general, all types of fiber impregnation caused an increase in water demand to achieve the required workability and a small reduction (10 to 15) in compressive strength. However, the contributing effects of fibers were observed in the improvement of flexural and tensile strength as well as enhanced ductility, PVA and basalt fibers showed better performance than the steel fibers in this respect. © Maxwell Scientific Organization, 2014."^^ .
