Two types of wind turbine generators were considered and compared against each other, namely the Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) and the Fixed-Speed Induction Generator (FSIG). Multiple schemes and system configurations were studied through eigenvalue analysis and nonlinear time domain simulations. Results demonstrate that wind farms generally had a positive impact on the damping of the undesired electro-mechanical oscillations and overall system stability; however, such positive impact was not achieved in all scenarios. © 2014 IEEE. date: 2014 publisher: IEEE Computer Society official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84906346406&doi=10.1109%2fICIAS.2014.6869505&partnerID=40&md5=0cb7b2c12e2c0e940c53003d1da137c8 id_number: 10.1109/ICIAS.2014.6869505 full_text_status: none publication: 2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems: Technological Convergence for Sustainable Future, ICIAS 2014 - Proceedings place_of_pub: Kuala Lumpur refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781479946549 citation: Fayek, H.M. and Elamvazuthi, I. and Perumal, N. and Venkatesh, B.
