Several methods are available to measure water content in crude oil but most of them are laborious and for offline detection. For an accurate online measurement of water content in crude oil, a novel interface circuit is proposed by using differential capacitive sensor based on modulation technique. This design consists of two capacitive sensors that compare the voltage signals of pure crude oil and solution under test. The simulation and experimental tests have been carried out to investigate the performance of the system. The interface circuit has sensitivity of 1.123mV/pF, which is adjustable according to the requirement. The system is tested for different concentrations of water and crude oil. The results showed that the proposed system has robust and near optimal performance with the change of water content in oil, which intern advantageous in term of accuracy and portability © 2014 IEEE. date: 2014 publisher: IEEE Computer Society official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84906350475&doi=10.1109%2fICIAS.2014.6869504&partnerID=40&md5=6178d1a1985edca03bb2d9ee3f8dabf0 id_number: 10.1109/ICIAS.2014.6869504 full_text_status: none publication: 2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems: Technological Convergence for Sustainable Future, ICIAS 2014 - Proceedings place_of_pub: Kuala Lumpur refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781479946549 citation: Aslam, M.Z. and Boon, T.T.
