%K Activated carbon; Brines; Carbon, Active site; Brine solution; Chlor-alkali; Chlor-alkali plants; Chlorate; Coal-based activated carbon; Lower temperatures, Adsorption %X Coal based activated carbon was found to be able to adsorb chlorate from brine solutions. The removal of chlorate by the activated carbon is enhanced at higher chlorate concentrations, lower temperatures and lower pH. Presence of chlorine in the brine reduces the adsorption of chlorate and is suspected to compete for the same active sites. Chlorate is best removed from de-chlorinated brine. © 2014 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. %D 2014 %R 10.4028/www.scientific.net/AMM.625.885 %O cited By 2; Conference of 3rd International Conference on Process Engineering and Advanced Materials, ICPEAM 2014 ; Conference Date: 3 June 2014 Through 5 June 2014; Conference Code:114811 %J Applied Mechanics and Materials %L scholars4812 %T Adsorption of chlorate from chlor-alkali plant purged brine stream %I Trans Tech Publications Ltd %A S.
