The study emphasizes on the parameters involved in the preparation phase of the banana peel adsorbent, such as particle sizes, activating agent, impregnation ratio, carbonization temperature and duration. Based on the findings, it shows that the adsorption capacity is correlated to the total surface area (SBET), pore volume (VT) and average pore diameter (D) of the materials. Sample A20 yields the highest percentage removal for all tested waste water pollutants, suggesting that banana peel based activated carbon can be used effectively as biosorption material. © 2014 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. date: 2014 publisher: Trans Tech Publications Ltd official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84914129359&doi=10.4028%2fwww.scientific.net%2fAMM.625.749&partnerID=40&md5=349be61a6e2573f5ff73f3990cf3e756 id_number: 10.4028/www.scientific.net/AMM.625.749 full_text_status: none publication: Applied Mechanics and Materials volume: 625 pagerange: 749-752 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9783038351818 issn: 16609336 citation: Borhan, A. and Hoong, P.K. and Taha, M.F.
