Fast pyrolysis was carried out in a fluidized bed reactor of 108 mm in internal diameter operated at 450 using three different sizes of palm kernel shell (0.325, 0.75 and 1.5 mm). In specific the effect of biomass size on the yields of known and unknown organics in bio-oil was mainly investigated. The major organics include acetic acid, phenol and furfural. The minor ones include 2-methylphenol, 4-methylphenol, 2-methylnaphthalene, benzene, toluene and tetrahydrofurane (THF). Smaller biomass sizes were favorable for higher bio-oil yields. © 2014 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. date: 2014 publisher: Trans Tech Publications Ltd official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84914146280&doi=10.4028%2fwww.scientific.net%2fAMM.625.608&partnerID=40&md5=c4746b8c537d7018d117d09fa1c3edc7 id_number: 10.4028/www.scientific.net/AMM.625.608 full_text_status: none publication: Applied Mechanics and Materials volume: 625 pagerange: 608-611 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9783038351818 issn: 16609336 citation: Uemura, Y. and Norizan, A. and Afif, H.A. and Osman, N. and Omar, W.N. and Abdullah, B. and Tsutsui, T.
