This paper presents an attempt to incorporate pluggable scheduling into an existing open-source volunteer computing system named BOINC. Our efforts proved valid, as we managed to re-engineer BOINC to support different scheduling applications and interchange between them dynamically, with additional support for thermal-aware scheduling algorithms. Our aim is to start a path into what could be a collection of middleware tools with standardized integration to sensor systems to support distinct types of scheduling policies, without the need to recompile the server system. © 2014 IEEE. date: 2014 publisher: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84938806719&doi=10.1109%2fICCOINS.2014.6868823&partnerID=40&md5=7bee39d7490dd7aade19a5f8f2dfcada id_number: 10.1109/ICCOINS.2014.6868823 full_text_status: none publication: 2014 International Conference on Computer and Information Sciences, ICCOINS 2014 - A Conference of World Engineering, Science and Technology Congress, ESTCON 2014 - Proceedings refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781479943913 citation: Dinis, G. and Zakaria, N. and Naono, K.
