In this paper, the use of the IPFC based controller in damping of low frequency oscillations is investigated. An extended Heffron-Phillips model of a single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system installed with IPFC is established and used to analyze the damping torque contribution of the IPFC damping control to the power system. The potential of various IPFC control signals upon the power system oscillation stability is investigated a using controllability index. Simulation results using Matlab Simulink demonstrate the effectiveness of IPFC damping controllers on damping low frequency oscillations. © 2008 IEEE. date: 2008 official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-62949212737&doi=10.1109%2fICSET.2008.4747027&partnerID=40&md5=17f00c706d25d3e9e721b6dedfa8976a id_number: 10.1109/ICSET.2008.4747027 full_text_status: none publication: 2008 IEEE International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies, ICSET 2008 place_of_pub: Singapore pagerange: 334-339 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781424418886 citation: Parimi, A.M. and Elamvazuthi, I. and Saad, N.
