Noises such as shot noise, beat noises are generated due to background light which causes errors and thereby reduce overall system performance. Error correction methods are employed to minimize these errors. There are many algorithms to reduce the errors but Reed- Solomon algorithm is famous for many commercial applications. These codes are generated by Galois field. For decoding, Euclid algorithm is used because it provides simplicity and reduced run time. The decoding follows all steps through calculation of syndrome, error locator polynomial and magnitude of errors to correct the errors in data. Different coding lengths are used to compare the run time and error rate for each. The algorithm is analyzed for Bit error rate (BER), Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) and channel bit error rate. Results indicate that by increasing the coding length, Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) can be improved and Bit Error Rate (BER) can be reduced. The increased length of codes gives higher coding gain without any alteration in antenna size and signal power level. © 2013 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l.- All rights reserved. date: 2013 publisher: Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84891532375&partnerID=40&md5=182c371221bc5aaa4d2d7ad151cd3100 full_text_status: none publication: International Journal on Communications Antenna and Propagation volume: 3 number: 2 pagerange: 97-101 refereed: TRUE issn: 20395086 citation: Jatoi, M.A. (2013) Forward error correction using Reed-Solomon coding and Euclid decoding in wireless infrared communications.
