One of the problems that has been taken into consideration in this study is human resource management in the construction of a sustainable development project. Even though construction uses more manpower in its business activities compared to other fields, its human resource management is still inadequate and insufficient. The problem concerning human resource management in the construction of a sustainable development project needs to be identified and methods for improvement need to be formulated for the success of the project. A combination of questionnaire survey and case study were used as methodologies for this study. 150 questionnaires were distributed to contractors all over Malaysia and we received 25 feedbacks. A case study was undertaken at a construction site in Kuala Lumpur. The results of the study show that there was awareness among the contractors in Malaysia about the importance of human resource management on the success of construction of a sustainable development project. The main problems of human resource management in the construction of a sustainable project have been identified. There were project managers' roles, communication between team members and insufficient teamwork.
