Lifelong learning skill is an attribute in soft skills, one of the aims in the National Higher Education Strategic Plan of Malaysia. This paper discusses how lifelong learning skill is imparted in a technical writing course at a private engineering and technology focused university. Their coursework is designed to hone this skill. It is found that students can be motivated to learn if the relevance of the course is clearly explained to them and if they are shown how it would be helpful to them once they begin to work. This study implies that lifelong learning skills can be taught in technical and non-technical courses, as it transcends the curriculum. © Common Ground, Hairuzila Idrus, Azelin Mohamed Noor, Mohamed Noor Rosli Baharom, All Rights. date: 2012 publisher: Common Ground Research Networks official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84874963550&doi=10.18848%2f1447-9494%2fcgp%2fv18i11%2f47820&partnerID=40&md5=63dcefa54897741ae54255fe52c17e44 id_number: 10.18848/1447-9494/cgp/v18i11/47820 full_text_status: none publication: International Journal of Learning volume: 18 number: 11 pagerange: 191-202 refereed: TRUE issn: 14479494 citation: Idrus, H. and Noor, A.M. and Baharom, M.N.R.
