The information of surface textures can aid the inclusion of haptic technology in tele-dermatology as well as enhance the effectiveness of current 2D based applications. This work aims to analyse and model surface textures of skin including diseased skin. For this purpose the multiple pairwise pixel interaction model of Markov-Gibbs Random Field (MGRF) has been used. Surface textures are in the form of 3D mesh which are converted to 2D height maps and modeled as grayscale textures. The results demonstrate that homogenous stochastic textures of skin can be modeled successfully. The successfully modeled textures represent the surface irregularities on scale of 0.1 mm which can create the tactile perception of roughness for skin in haptic applications. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007. date: 2007 publisher: Springer Verlag official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-38049184251&doi=10.1007%2f978-3-540-74477-1_63&partnerID=40&md5=91c0b07232a34a7d4b045ade7eb1d8f2 id_number: 10.1007/978-3-540-74477-1₆₃ full_text_status: none publication: Lecture Notes in Computer Science (including subseries Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence and Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics) volume: 4706 L number: PART 2 place_of_pub: Kuala Lumpur pagerange: 694-705 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9783540744757 issn: 03029743 citation: Nazr-e-Batool and Hani, A.F.M. and Yap, V.V.
