%X In line with sustainable development goals, the following aspects need to be considered in manufacturing electrical insulation materials: (1) the materials should be environmentally benign, (2) the materials should have minimal impact on climate change, and (3) the materials should be produced from renewable and sustainable resources, among other criteria. Most of the existing electrical insulation materials used in high-voltage equipment are non-environmentally friendly, non-recyclable, hazardous, and flammable. Nevertheless, electrical insulation materials should be manufactured in accordance with sustainable development goals. Hence, this article discusses the current trend of eco-friendly electrical insulation materials in high-voltage equipment in terms of the development of materials and their electrical properties. The significance of this article lies in presenting future research opportunities, especially in the sustainable development of electrical insulation materials for high-voltage equipment. © 2025 Author(s).
