Most of the existing electrical insulation materials used in high-voltage equipment are non-environmentally friendly, non-recyclable, hazardous, and flammable. Nevertheless, electrical insulation materials should be manufactured in accordance with sustainable development goals. Hence, this article discusses the current trend of eco-friendly electrical insulation materials in high-voltage equipment in terms of the development of materials and their electrical properties. The significance of this article lies in presenting future research opportunities, especially in the sustainable development of electrical insulation materials for high-voltage equipment. © 2025 Author(s).
