Due to the unique environment of construction sites, the con-struction sector is currently lagging behind other industries when it comes to IR 4.0. Several research studies have made significant contributions to the use of IR 4.0 in construction projects. However, no scientometric research has been attempted to assess the holistic understanding of the current status of IR 4.0 applications. The purpose of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the present literature on IR 4.0 and its application in the construction sector. Automation, Blockchain, Digital Transformation, Digital Twin, Lean Construction, and Sustainability were found using keyword co-occurrence analysis to be the most IR 4.0 related topics implemented in the construction industry. In addition to that, it is recommended to develop more frameworks and strategies for enhancing the adoption of IR 4.0 in construction to enhance productivity and attain sustainable develop-ment. It is also found that adopting multiple emerging IR 4.0 technologies such as BIM, IoT, Blockchain, and Digital Twin in the construction industry will increase the advantages of IR 4.0. This study contributes to the field of the construction sector and IR 4.0 by assisting construction stackholders and researchers to explore the current and future trends of IR 4.0. © 2024, Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd.
