The development of mash-ups is everywhere, yet until now there has been insufficient research and development of mash-up applications for use in Higher Education. In this work we focus on mash-ups in Higher Education: their potential, how to provide training for users, and how to assess their effectiveness in the dissemination of information. A mash-up architecture consists of three main components: first is the content/service provider, second is the provider of the editor used to create the mash-up, and lastly is the server to host it and the client to whom the mash-up results are presented. In this work we investigate the available mash-up editors from which we chose one; we used the selected mash-up editor for the development of a mash-up application at University Teknologi PETRONAS. © 2011 Springer-Verlag. %K Data mash-up; Development methodology; Higher education; Mash-up editor; Media; Social; Users; Web 2.0, Information dissemination; Software engineering; User interfaces, Education %D 2011 %R 10.1007/978-3-642-22170-5₂₅ %N PART 1 %O cited By 1; Conference of 2nd International Conference on Software Engineering and Computer Systems, ICSECS 2011 ; Conference Date: 27 June 2011 Through 29 June 2011; Conference Code:85603 %J Communications in Computer and Information Science %L scholars1998
