Geographical Information Systems (GIS) containing the geo-referenced data of lands, assets from where the transmission lines passes, vegetation near the line and the applications utilized are essential tools for the improvement of transmission lines maintenance. This paper proposes a concept of multispectral satellite stereo images to find out the 3D depth of vegetation endangering transmission lines right-of-ways, and also a new Multimedia Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSNs) based cost effective, less time consuming and a more accurate technique for the automated power line inspection against vegetation encroachment. © 2011 IEEE. date: 2011 official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-80052184167&doi=10.1109%2fIST.2011.5962216&partnerID=40&md5=51361963ef501a74ffdb1ca875d17d0d id_number: 10.1109/IST.2011.5962216 full_text_status: none publication: 2011 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques, IST 2011 - Proceedings place_of_pub: Batu Ferringhi, Penang pagerange: 34-38 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781612848969 citation: Ahmad, J. and Saeed Malik, A. and Xia, L.
