relation: https://khub.utp.edu.my/scholars/18982/ title: Development of An IoT Enabled Lower Limb Stroke Rehabilitation System creator: Hawari, H.F. creator: Yeng, R.B.I. description: Stroke ranks as the third leading cause of death in Malaysia, with 47,911 reported cases in 2019, leading to 19,928 fatalities. The risk factors show pronounced impact on individuals under 65, notably a 53.3 rise in men and 50.4 in women aged 35-39. Despite Malaysia's advancements, effective rehabilitation, especially for lower extremity stroke patients, remains challenging. Limited research on lower limb stroke, financial constraints, and pandemic-related delays exacerbates the situation. This project addresses the gap by developing an affordable IoT prototype with sensors like load cell, gyroscope, and muscle sensors connected to an Arduino board. This setup enables real-time remote monitoring, enhancing data-driven rehabilitation progress. The collected data will be organized and presented on a dashboard for specialists to monitor, ensuring low manufacturing costs by providing easy access to materials. The field test results indicate consistent patterns, with standard deviations mostly within 15, the lowest being 3.9. This research aims to empower lower limb stroke patients for a better quality of life and increased independence. © 2023 IEEE. publisher: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. date: 2023 type: Conference or Workshop Item type: PeerReviewed identifier: Hawari, H.F. and Yeng, R.B.I.
