High quantity of alkanolamine appears in the wastewater during cleaning and maintenance as well as shutdown of the absorption and desorption columns. The alkanolamines waste is toxic to the environment and this wastewater cannot be treated in the conventional wastewater treatment. Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) named UV/H 2O 2 is introduced to solve this problem. A laboratory set up of degradation MDEA waste using UV/H 2O 2 was conducted and the degradation mechanism has been studied. Glycine, oxalic acid, acetic acid, nitrate ion, nitrite ion and ammonium ion are identified as degradation intermediate product. © 2011 IEEE. date: 2011 official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84857067693&doi=10.1109%2fNatPC.2011.6136283&partnerID=40&md5=3ebff8c8124f65807c0c6114836e9ff9 id_number: 10.1109/NatPC.2011.6136283 full_text_status: none publication: 2011 National Postgraduate Conference - Energy and Sustainability: Exploring the Innovative Minds, NPC 2011 place_of_pub: Perak refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781457718847 citation: Harimurti, S. and Omar, A.A. and Rahmah, A.U. and Murugesan, T.
