N2 - Cycloconverters are frequently used in industry to control motor speed. It is a single-stage AC-AC power converter that can produce variable output frequency from constant input frequency and, at the same time, it can control the magnitude of the output voltage. However, a high number of harmonics component is generated by the cycloconverter because of its non-sinusoidal outputs which affects the performance of the load. The experimental harmonic analysis for any cyclo-converter at 230V AC is hardly found in the literature. Hence, this paper presents the harmonic analysis of the outputs of a IGBT based cyclo-inverter circuit for 100 Hz, 150 Hz, and 200 Hz operation. THD of the output voltage and current are investigated through MATLAB/ Simulink simulation and experimental analysis at 230V AC systems. © 2022 IEEE.
