In this study, a frequency domain analysis was performed for a float-over barge subjected to random waves. The excitation forces acting on the floating barge were derived by Froude-Krylov approach. In this paper, seven different sea states were specified for the analysis and the results are presented in terms of Response Amplitude Operators (RAOs). Three motion modes were analyzed namely surge, heave and pitch. The results are presented and conclusions arrived at. The resulting RAOs decrease with an increase in draft while longer wave periods are associated with larger surge, heave and pitch responses. The findings provide guidance for the conceptual design and development of such structures. © 2011 IEEE. date: 2011 official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84857073785&doi=10.1109%2fNatPC.2011.6136357&partnerID=40&md5=41b4d18531bf2de54d77005f3ec3388d id_number: 10.1109/NatPC.2011.6136357 full_text_status: none publication: 2011 National Postgraduate Conference - Energy and Sustainability: Exploring the Innovative Minds, NPC 2011 place_of_pub: Perak refereed: TRUE isbn: 9781457718847 citation: Baharuddin, N.H. and John, K.V. and Hashim, A.M.
