Of particular interest is CO2 photoreduction to methanol using visible light irradiation, which has gained remarkable attention in the scientific community. In this chapter, various synthesis methods of photocatalysts, thermodynamics properties, and photoreactor types have been discussed in detail. Effects of different parameters such as light intensity, catalyst dosage, calcination, and reaction temperature that affect the photocatalysts performances are also highlighted. Finally, the future direction and outlook of converting CO2 to methanol through photocatalysis are discussed. © 2021 Elsevier Inc. date: 2021 publisher: Elsevier official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85117030597&doi=10.1016%2fB978-0-12-823007-7.00015-8&partnerID=40&md5=29586536b50fb26ca874387bf84731d0 id_number: 10.1016/B978-0-12-823007-7.00015-8 full_text_status: none publication: Nanostructured Photocatalysts: From Fundamental to Practical Applications pagerange: 519-540 refereed: TRUE isbn: 9780128230077 citation: Iqbal, F. and Abdullah, B. and Oladipo, H. and Yusuf, M. and Alenazey, F. and Nguyen, T.D. and Ayoub, M.
