This paper presents the simulation of the dynamic model of switched reluctance motor based on MATLAB SIMULINK and compares the performance of the motor after implementation of voltage control and current control techniques. Details on modeling of linear model of 6/4 SRM are provided in paper along with the block diagram of simulations. Load analysis as well as optimum dwell angle analysis is performed with both of the control techniques applied. The results obtained show the improvements in performance with increase in the average torque and reduction in torque ripple. Through this paper, complex design of SRM is simulated with easy methodology, which allows its further use before any real time design. © 2011 IEEE.
