Enhanced physicochemical properties, lubricant performance, and tribological characteristics are obtained by biolubricants blends with additives. There is an interest in tribological characteristics evaluation in terms of friction and wear reducing characteristics of biolubricants with additives. An overview of biolubricants blends with additives in Malaysia for tribological applications is presented. In this review, research trends on various lubricant/nanoparticle additives used with biolubricants are described. The biolubricants blends with additives having similar performance to petroleum-based lubricants solve environmental issues and increases markets for industrial lubricant applications. {\^A}{\copyright} Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
