Over the years, higher education institutions continually increase the possession of printed and electronic materials for students, academics and staff. With the growth of electronic facilities and resources as well as increasing budgetary pressure, libraries must identify the factors that influence the use of the available materials. This study adopted a structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the preferred reference book format among students (n = 145) at a government-linked boutique university. The result reveals that students' perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use played a crucial role in influencing the preferred library book format whilst the users' attitude fully mediated the relationship between these variables. This study identified also a partial mediating effect of desire between users' attitudes and intentions. Besides, the organizational characteristics had a significant effect on users' perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Overall, by focusing on the underlying mechanisms of the theories of TAM, TPB, and TSR in choosing library resource format, this study developed an integrated model, which contributes to both theories, and practices in library management literature. © 2021 date: 2021 publisher: Elsevier Ltd official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85107269415&doi=10.1016%2fj.acalib.2021.102399&partnerID=40&md5=b85b4db091ba58c46148c80b1028aec9 id_number: 10.1016/j.acalib.2021.102399 full_text_status: none publication: Journal of Academic Librarianship volume: 47 number: 5 refereed: TRUE issn: 00991333 citation: Mustafa, M.H. and Ahmad, M.B. and Shaari, Z.H. and Jannat, T.
