This is due to its advantages of flexibility, scalability, use of fewer cables and overall reduced operational cost compared to its wired counterpart. However, the technology is often affected by stochastic delay and high frequency noise. PIDs are ill-equipped to deal with these problems while model based controllers such as dead-time compensators (DTCs) like Smith predictor and internal model controllers (IMCs) are complex and require exact plant model for implementation. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG. date: 2020 publisher: Springer official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85085182002&doi=10.1007%2f978-3-030-47737-0_2&partnerID=40&md5=4d873be589a2cae1e9f087be1bf3e68b id_number: 10.1007/978-3-030-47737-0₂ full_text_status: none publication: Studies in Systems, Decision and Control volume: 293 pagerange: 27-58 refereed: TRUE issn: 21984182 citation: Hassan, S.M. and Ibrahim, R. and Saad, N. and Bingi, K. and Asirvadam, V.S.
