Batch adsorption test showed that extent of metal adsorption was dependent on metal concentration, contact time, pH and carbon dose. Adsorption was low at acidic pH and increased with increase in pH. Adsorption capacity of the activated carbon for copper and cadmium was evaluated by adsorption isotherm test and compared with that of a commercial activated carbon. The coconut coir activated carbon showed higher limiting capacity for adsorption of copper and cadmium (84.74 mg/g and 68.03 mg/g) than that of the commercial activated carbon (46.30 mg/g and 14.90 mg/g). date: 2010 publisher: Technoscience Publications official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-78651566077&partnerID=40&md5=198a2d4afec6c0e08e88364c20d35c38 full_text_status: none publication: Nature Environment and Pollution Technology volume: 9 number: 1 pagerange: 25-28 refereed: TRUE issn: 09726268 citation: Chaudburi, M. and Kutty, S.R.M. and Yusop, S.H.
