Then a new mitigation method based on wettability alteration is introduced with an explanation on its mechanism and example of chemicals used. Next, new researches using nanoparticles as a wettability alteration agent is presented, and it is believed to be superior to the chemical treatment alone as it modifies the surface wettability from two aspects: surface energy and surface roughness while chemical treatment only reduces the surface energy. In a nutshell, there is a significant gap of study in using nanoparticles as the wettability alteration agent in gas condensate reservoirs. © 2019 Elsevier B.V. %K Gas condensates; Interfacial energy; Nanoparticles; Petroleum reservoirs; Wetting, Chemical treatments; Condensate banking; Gas condensate reservoirs; Gas reservoir; Mitigation methods; Pressure profiles; Surface wettability; Wettability alteration, Surface roughness, gas condensate; hydrocarbon reservoir; hydrothermal alteration; nanoparticle; surface energy; surface roughness; wettability %L scholars11059 %R 10.1016/j.petrol.2019.106431 %V 183 %T A review on the wettability alteration mechanism in condensate banking removal %J Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering %I Elsevier B.V.
