In this present study, the FSW of aluminium alloy (AA) 6063 pipe butt joints with 5 mm wall thickness has been performed, and the evaluation of fracture and hardness distribution across the weld cross section is primarily discussed. Several selected rotational and travel speeds are used for specimen preparation. It was found that the fracture location closely matched with the lowest hardness region either on the advancing or retreating side of the welded joints. © Springer International Publishing AG 2018. date: 2018 publisher: Springer Verlag official_url: https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85041724670&doi=10.1007%2f978-3-319-72697-7_35&partnerID=40&md5=117b9baea1ea6e7b1945950963b56079 id_number: 10.1007/978-3-319-72697-7₃₅ full_text_status: none publication: Advanced Structured Materials volume: 85 pagerange: 439-444 refereed: TRUE issn: 18698433 citation: Ismail, A. and Awang, M. and Rahman, F.A. and Baharudin, B.A. and Khalid, P.Z.M. and Hamid, D.A.
